The top 9 catwalk trends of SS20

As seen on the runway and in the fashion magazines

Colours, fabrics and prints: what are we going to see a lot of this summer? There is a lot going on in the field of fashion in today's visual culture, but which hot trends are lasting and how do you combine them? We have dug into the magazines and have listed our favourites together with the fair fashion variants from our summer collection.

1. Fine lines or pinstripes

A recurring print trend is the subtle stripes. Horizontal, vertical, on a suit or a t-shirt, pink, blue, black or white: we saw it all. The great thing about the pinstripes printis that it goes with every item and every style!

2. Tropical getaway

Think fruity, colourful prints and abstract images inspired by nature. The tropical trend is about more than just palm leaves this season: abstract floral prints in all shapes and colours are also going to be seen! A bunch of flowers on your head like at Marni's show is probably going too far, but when you feel like you're on a tropical getaway, you know it's a successful outfit!

3. Skin is in

That's right, the mini skirt, shorts, tank tops and cut-out details: it's all about you this summer! Show yourself from your best side and feel fantastic.

4. Yin & YangBlack and white in balance

When it comes to colour, this is a firm favourite: because it is modern, wearable and has endless possibilities. Earlier we saw the black and white stripe, but there are many more variations where black and white come together. Combine items made of fine materials like Tencel and recycled polyamide in black and white for a sophisticated look and wear a black dress for example with a white shirt underneath.

5. Minty fresh

Another colour trend this summer is light green. The variations of mint, thyme and pistachio, for example, are real favourites. These colours are easy to combine with dark blue, white and black and will effortlessly breathe new life into your summer wardrobe!

6. Romantic and bohemian: Broderie & Crochet

Just like Dior's fashion show, where the sublime poetic scenography was admired by many, Broderie & Crochet will be one of the main trends for next summer romance. And this is anything but stuffy: openwork lace, broderie and crochet! Classic lace items are still doing well but if the catwalk is to be believed, the more casual embroidery and crochet items take over. Also chic bohemian looks such as long dresses and skirts in light materials dominated the catwalk. Romantic and bohemian: Broderie & Crochet | Sophie Stone

7. Matching set

The coordinated outfit is here to stay this summer! Here, too, a lot is possible: shorts, skirt or trousers and top, blazer and trousers, denim on denim, matching prints, material or colour.

8. Denim look

The revival of the mid-70s in 2020 is reflected in the real denim and denim look. The denim look in particular is a real favourite in summer thanks to the light, natural materials Tencel Lyocell and EcoVero.

9. 70's: It's a vibe

Besides the denim look and the bohemian items, the 70's trends also feature the finishing touch: the overall vibe is just as important as the individual items. In other words, complete your outfit with colourful, handmade accessories that match your style! Fantastic for this are our new eyeglass cords from A Beautiful Story! The cords made of beautiful gemstones and beads strung on wire are sustainable and Fair Trade produced and fit perfectly with the new earrings and bracelets from A Beautiful Story.
