It is winter and what do you like to wear best? A warm jumper of course! Unfortunately, really warm jumpers are often made of wool and these jumpers tend to itch. An itchy jumper, everyone knows it, a classic love-hate relationship.
Therefore, in this blog we will give you the best tips to get rid of the tickling so that you will hopefully wear them more often. That's sustainable!
Tip 1 | Vinegar
Put a few drops of vinegar in a bowl of cold water. This can be your sink or a tub and immerse your jumper in it, preferably inside out. Let your jumper soak for 15 minutes and then rinse it thoroughly.
Tip 2 | Conditioner
To make your jumper nice and soft, you can do two things. Firstly, you can put your jumper, which you have dampened a little, on a towel and rub it with conditioner, which will create a wax layer on your jumper.
If you don't have conditioner in the house, you can also wash your jumper in soapy water with fabric softener! The fabric softener will make the jumper soft.
Soak your jumper in conditioner or fabric softener for 20-30 minutes. Then rinse the jumper well and let it air dry.
Tip 3 | Fluffiness
Fluff causes itching. Treat the problem at its source by removing the fluff in time. In this way, you can prevent itching.
To remove the fluff, it is best to use a sharp razor blade or a 'Lint thief'. Gently shave over the fluff and Ta-daa, she is as good as new!
Tip 4 | Freezer
When your jumper is dry, fold it up and put it in a tightly closing plastic bag. Then place your jumper in the freezer overnight. This will make the hairs of the woollen fibres sting less, because it is these hairs that cause all the tickling.
Let your jumper defrost gently. When your jumper is completely defrosted, you can unfold it and hopefully it will be as good as new again, and it won't itch anymore!
