Or putting on your white T-shirt and getting a foundation stain. We probably all know it. That's why we have tips for you on how to get the most common stains out of your garments.

Here's how to remove a wine stain

What if you get red wine all over your outfit? Don't panic, you can still remove the stain, but it's important to do so as soon as possible. Keep the stain wet with cold (sparkling) water. Preferably under the faucet. Be careful not to use hot water when doing this. This actually causes the wine stain to expand further. Then you can try using different means to remove the stain. Do you have salt at your disposal? Then sprinkle it over the stain. After that, try to rub the wine stain out of the garment. You can repeat this process if necessary if it still doesn't come out well enough. Once the stain is pretty much out you can wash the garment. Another option is baking soda. Mix this with water, rub over the stain and leave for several hours. Another remedy is vinegar with liquid detergent. Mix this with lukewarm water and then rub the stain with a cloth. Once the stain is almost gone you can then wash it again in the washing machine.

Here's how to remove a chocolate stain

Because chocolate melts quickly, it can cause nasty stains. But fortunately, we have some tips for this. So that you can get rid of chocolate stains as quickly as possible. First try to remove the stain with a knife or a spoon. But do this carefully and be careful not to make the stain bigger or rub deeper into the fabric. Rinse the back of the stain with cold, running water. Then apply a small amount of detergent to the stain and let it soak for 15 to 30 minutes. Then wash the garment as you normally would.

Removing grease stains from your clothes

While cooking, you can easily get grease stains on your clothes. The trouble with these stains is that they easily soak into the fibers and thus become stubborn. One way to get grease stains out of your clothes is to use dishwashing liquid. Let this soak into the stain for a while so that the grease is broken down. After this, wash the garment in the washing machine. Another option to remove grease stains that have just gotten on your clothes is talcum powder. Talcum powder absorbs the grease.

Toothpaste stain removal

In any case, always try to remove the stain with lukewarm water instead of cold water. Another tip is to turn on the iron and go over the stain with it. After that, the stain should no longer be visible. If the stain has been in your clothing a little longer, green soap is the solution. Pour some green soap over the stain, then let it soak in for half an hour. After that, wash the garment in the washing machine. Green soap is almost entirely biodegradable and therefore a good stain remover.

Here's how to remove makeup stains from your clothes

Eye makeup such as mascara, eyeliner or eyebrow pencil often contain a lot of grease. Therefore, it is helpful to let these kinds of stains dry up first. Then you can try using dish soap or shampoo to remove the stain. Is the stain still visible after that? Then try a little water-based makeup remover. Do you have a foundation stain? Try removing it with some water and vinegar. Mix this together and dab on the stain with a cloth. Do you have powder-based foundation? Try first vacuuming away the top layer with a vacuum cleaner and then dab on the stain with makeup remover. For a lipstick stain, it is better not to use water. The trick is to drip a small amount of alcohol on a cotton ball and dab it on the stain. A layer of petroleum jelly also helps.
