Petticoat: Say what!

The slips dress is back with a vengeance, and how! When you think of an undershirt, you think of your grandmother's frumpy shirt, but nowadays you can almost wear the undershirt as your favourite Little Black Dress. Made from a super fine breathable fabric, with subtle lace details, it provides extra comfort in the cold winter months. But there are many more reasons to wear an undershirt, think of all those cute summer dresses that you can just wear now and don't have to stash away in the back of your closet because it's not the season anymore. With a nice slips dress and a cardigan you can step out of the door cheerfully, because the slips dress provides just that little bit of extra warmth

Here you can find our beautiful slips.

Clothing lasts longer with an undergarment

In addition, your dresses will last a lot longer, which of course is more sustainable! When you wear an underskirt you don't have to wash your favourite dresses as often, you don't have to pick them as much because the dress isn't riding up and you won't have to worry about ugly edges on the fabric because the underskirt drapes down and shows off your body shape better. An underskirt can also come in handy when your dress gets static and sticks to your legs. With an underdress this will not be a problem!

No peeking or scratching

The slips dress is also a great solution if you like to wear a wrap dress, but are afraid that it will blow open or fall out. With a nice slips dress you have nothing to worry about, and you can get through the day warm and stylish. If your dress is made of a thinner fabric and is a bit transparent, the slips dress will also help you out. Or if you don't like wool and it is used in a dress you really want to wear, an underdress is your best friend. Ditto for your favourite sequin dress that is a bit prickly.

Why do you wear an underdress?

In summary, you wear a petticoat for the following reasons:

What should you look for when buying an undergarment?

It goes without saying, but it's worth mentioning the colour of your slips dress. Especially with lighter fabrics, it is important to wear a light coloured slips dress, preferably one that is as close to your own skin tone as possible. With darker fabrics you can very well wear a dark underdress, with a lower neckline it gives the illusion of a beautiful lace top.

Perfect length of your underdress

Besides the colour, the length of the slips dress is also important. You don't want your slips under your dress. Make sure your slips are about 5 cm shorter than the dress you are wearing. If your slips dress is too long, you can shorten it with a few simple stitches. When you want to wear it again with a longer dress, you can easily undo it. Since you want to avoid as many seams and visible edges as possible, another option is to make the dress shorter by using an adhesive hem. Using a double-sided adhesive strip and an iron, you can then easily hem the underdress.

Which material for an undershirt

Speaking of seams, look for an underdress that has as few tangible and visible seams as possible for the ultimate in comfort and the best look. Last but not least - the fabric. How the fabric feels on your skin is of course also very important. A fine breathable fabric, like our wonderfully soft organic cotton feels like a second skin and regulates your body temperature to the max.
